Equity Stake and Product Launch in Spin-Out Company

Frontier IP, which specialises in the commercialisation of university intellectual property, is delighted to announce that software developer, Rapid Quality Systems Limited (“RQS”), the spin-out company from the University of Dundee in which Frontier IP has an equity stake, has launched its first software product, CodeRocket.

CodeRocket is a software tool which simplifies and supports the design of software systems. Developed at the Space Technology Centre at the University of Dundee, under the direction of Dr Steve Parkes and Craig Ramsay, CodeRocket, has been launched after several years in development. The software product represents a market-leading innovation, providing software developers with the facility to speed up software development, enhance productivity and significantly improve design documentation.

In readiness for the launch of CodeRocket, the senior management team at RQS was strengthened, with the appointment of Russell Kay as Chief Executive and Alan Faichney as Chairman. Russell Kay brings over 20 years’ experience in the software industry and has been involved with the successful development of start-up companies and Alan Faichney brings a strong track record of leadership in developing and commercialising market-leading software. Craig Ramsay has assumed the position of Chief Technology Officer.

Frontier IP received its equity stake in RQS as a result of its partnership agreement with the University of Dundee and the equity stake is its third with the University of Dundee, with which it has a 10-year partnership contract. Under the terms of this partnership contract, in return for commercialisation support, Frontier IP receives equity in spin-out companies.

Frontier IP has been closely working with the University of Dundee and the founders of RQS to accelerate the commercialisation of RQS’s innovations. Both the University of Dundee and the two founders of RQS are also shareholders in the business.
